Tis the Season!
Please stop by to help us bless a local family…..
We can’t do it with out you!
Our beautiful assistant, Mitzi was honored at tonight’s Banquet. WYFS is very near and dear to our hearts and we love to hear all the good things they do for all the families in our community. This program has helped Mitzi and so many others like her to reach for their dreams. We are honored that she chose to work at our salon. Congrats Mitzi on all your accomplishments and future! You are a true inspiration!
There are four words that you hope to never hear about yourself or your loved one. Four little words that can completely change your world: ‘You have breast cancer.’ With no family history, on July 3rd, 2013, I was diagnosed with a stage 3, lobular, estrogen positive, breast cancer. With strength and determination, I battled and beat it.
Two and a half years later, on January 12, 2016, I learned even more devastating news – the cancer is back and has metastasized into my liver, ribs, lymph node, and my ovaries. I had a complete hysterectomy and radiation beads surgically placed into my liver to shrink the tumors. I am currently taking a very costly oral chemo which requires monthly blood tests and monthly intravenous medication to protect my bone health. I have had an endless amount of MRI’s, PET scans, and CT scans. My life used to be filled with searching for Mr. Right but now is full of doctor appointments, endless fears and anxieties, and learning how to deal with the dreaded unknown.
I am self-employed, working with children from birth to three years old with developmental delays. During my first battle against this beast, I worked as much as I could but there were plenty of times I had to miss due to treatments, tests, procedures and medical appointments. If I do not work, I do not get paid. Now again, in this fight for my life, as I go through treatments, it has become more and more financially difficult for me to make ends meet and for me to be able to cover all of my medical expenses. Your assistance and support is humbly appreciated!
